Swatches: bh Cosmetics Party Girl Loose Pigment Eyeshadows!

New From bh Cosmetics!

bh Cosmetics Party Girl Loose Pigment Eyeshadows
Pigments... such a love/hate relationship! I hate the mess but I love the look, I guess you just have to compromise haha. bh Cosmetics released a new line of pigments called the Party Girl Loose Pigment Eye shadows, full of stunning shades! The original price is $7.95 but sales are very common on the bh website so I manged to get them for only $4.50 each!

They came in such a cute packaging, consistant with their Party Girl line. I love the color selection within the line! I ended up choosing two just to test out and so far they are really good!

I noticed a few things worth pointing out: they are packed with product,so for the price you pay you're not being cheated out of product (which is awesome!) and they have a seal that you remove when you receive them so they don't get messy in transit. I had the biggest makeup fail about a month ago where I received some pigments in the mail without the seal so I ended being covered in eye shadow as soon as I opened the package. I laugh now but I was pissed then, haha! So packaging gets two thumbs up from me!

I also enjoy the shape of the pot, it's easy to get your brush in there without making such a huge mess. Let's get into swatches:

The left swatch is dry and the right one is foiled... gorgeous! I love how finely milled they are, even dry they pack a punch because of the texture. Over primer they stick fairly easy, didn't notice much to any fall out. Foiling them was super easy too and I noticed that when foiled they can also be worn as liners! So far so good with these!
*Bring it on- a rose- copper
*Ready to go- a cobalt blue

I'm very impressed so far, haven't had a chance to really put them to test but I'll keep you updated. I might end up picking up a few more colors! ;-)

Must Haves: Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows!

Pigments Without The Mess!

Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
When I think of pigments I think of shadows that are super messy and difficult to work with. It was a breath of fresh air when I came across these Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadow Pigments! The packaging is designed to be mess free plus the product is amazing! Now... I'm sure that we all tend to skip on the Ulta Collection products because they're not so raved about but I highly recommend to purchase some (if not all haha) of these! They retail for $10 but normally the Ulta line is on sale plus you can use the $3.50 off $10 coupon too. A new Ulta opened right across the street from  me and they were having their Grand Opening! They had coupons for the first 100 customers and I managed to get a $15 off my purchase which explains all of these pigments haha. In addition to the coupon these were 2 for $8 so I couldn't pass them up! (They are still on sale until 06/28/2014 online and instore!)
Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
So this is what makes this product unique! It has a mechanism that releases the right amount of pigment every time you open the packaging. If you happen to need more just close the cap and tap the bottom... super simple! I'm loving how its a mess free application and they store away easily. The outside packaging is also really cute with the mirrored cap! There's a total of 12 shades in the line, many neutrals and brights too. Here's the shades I picked up! (Click on image to enlarge!)
Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
The shades are gorgeous and the pigmentation is pretty amazing! The pigment is so finely milled and free of chunky glitters. I find that they can work alone for a more muted look but to use them to their full capacity I would recommend a base like the Maybelline Color Tattoos! These can be used both wet or dry depending on the look that you're going for. Here are the swatches:
Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
*Henna- a taupe brown
*Mesa- a copper brown
*Icing- a milky pink
Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
*Olive- a golden olive
*Riviera- a bronze brown
Ulta Color Pure Eye Shadows
*Aloha- a bright blue... truly amazing! One of my favorites!
*Wildflower- a bright purple, another beautiful shade!

Bottom line: These were a dream to work with and for pigments they are unlike anything else I've tried! They were all consistent in performance, over a base they lasted all day. The colors are so rich too! I love these and highly recommend them. Make sure to take advantage of the sales Ulta has and coupons, that way you can purchase a bunch at a time! haha :-)

Need it Or Leave it: Makeup Geek Pigments!

Will Last You Forever!

Makeup Geek Pigments
Curiosity... such a powerful thing! ;-) I've seen and heard so many great reviews about the Makeup Geek products so I needed to try them out myself. The eyeshadows compare to Mac but at a much affordable price. Marlena, the owner, came up with so many beautiful colors that I just couldn't decide which ones to try! So... I opted for the pigments instead. The selection was still good but there was a lot less to choose from so it was a bit easier. I ordered two pigments... and I really like them! I'll go into detail about each one later on  in the post but lets talk about packaging first. I love how sleek it looks with simple black and white colors! It has a twist off cap and a plastic container... so really simple.
Now...my one and only con is that it doesn't have a sifter! You have to be extremely careful when opening the pigment because its overflowing with product that gets everywhere. I'm not complaining about how much you get, I just don't want to waste it by being clumsy! haha. Here is a picture of one of the pigments so you have an idea:
Makeup Geek Pigments
Makeup Geek is very generous! I'm not sure if they're adding sitfers on new orders, I purchased mine around the end of January. At the moment they're selling a pack of sifters (5 included!) for only $0.60 so not a bad deal! The sifters weren't available when I initially placed my order but I'm excited that they are now! The pigments retail for $6.99 each so its really a steal to higher end prices. You get so much product and on top of that they are amazingly pigmented... its a win/win! You can go to makeupgeek.com and see that most of the pigments are a dupe for Mac pigments and at a fraction of the price. I'll go ahead and include the swatches now:
Makeup Geek Pigments
From left to right:
*Nightlife- Light brown/taupe with shimmer
*Insomnia- Dark Brown duo-chrome with teal reflects
On the left is just one swipe of the pigment dry and on the right is the pigment when worn wet for a foiled look! I love these colors, especially Nightlife. It really brings out my brown eyes! There wasn't much fall out when I tried out nightlife. It stayed on all day over a base so I was very pleased! :-)

For the price you have to try them out! If I had to chose only one color out of the two it would be Nightlife since it's the most wearable of the two. When dry its perfect to add a little something to your everyday look and when wet it would look amazing on a night out. If you're more outgoing with your eye makeup there's a nice range of pigments to choose from on the Makeup Geek site. I love that they fill up each container to the rim, this will last you a long time. Just remember to purchase the sifters if you don't want a mess haha. Final verdict? Need! :-)
