Matte... But in Liquid Form!
Ladies and Gents (and more ladies haha) I present to you the Sephora Luster Matte Long-Wear Lip Colors! :-) The Sephora Collection gets super overlooked but these managed to find the spotlight! I've had these for a few months now and have been enjoying them to the fullest. They are $16 at Sephora which is actually pretty affordable for being sold there. There's a nice range of colors, plenty that are perfect for the upcoming season. I decided on these two, Mulberry and Fig and here are my thoughts!First off the applicator is pretty interesting, it's a flat on both sides to help with a smoother application. BUT... it applies SO much product! You need to make sure you wipe some off before wearing it. The claims on this product is that it has a matte finish with a subtle sheen. It claims to also nourish your lips instead of drying them out. I noticed that the finish is described accurately. For the most part it's matte but you can see a little shine. They never set though which helps with the hydration but also makes this product transfer on everything! I found that it lasted about 3-4 hours which is pretty good. It felt nice but also a little bit heavy so I highly recommend to blot and try to apply thin coats.
The pigmentation is amazing though! The tiniest bit is all you need to get a full application but the applicator makes it so difficult to do that. Being that it's flat on both sides it's kinda hard to get some precision and it just gets messy really quick. You do need patience with this product to make sure it looks good haha. Here are the lip swatches:
*Fig Luster- a neutral pink, really pretty everyday shade! In the tube it has shimmer but you can't see it when you wear it.
*Mulberry Luster- a BRIGHT reddish pink... gorgeous!!
Bottom line- I feel that even with the minor flaws it's still a pretty good product! I wish the formula would set so I wouldn't have to worry about the color transferring on everything. But it's pretty obvious that the pigmentation is awesome so if it wears away you just dab a little back on and you're good to go. It does require maintenance so that's something to consider. I guess it's preference thing. :-)
