Chocolate Galore!
Too Faced released the Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette just in time to curb my sweet tooth haha. The colors seemed so stunning and right up my alley. I love my original Chocolate Bar Palette, I use it all the time because it's so easy to create some looks with it! At first glance they didn't seem too different from each other but I'm happy to report that they are! So if you're thinking about getting it I'll save you a little time and suggest you get it! If you're wanting more details and swatches stay tuned :-)
The packaging is oh so cute! Looks just like a chocolate bar, lighter than the original palette. It's the same size as the re-release of the first palette, thin and compact! It retails for $49 (less than Urban Decay!) and I purchase mine from Sephora. It's now available on the Too Faced website too!
Something Too faced added to this palette that the first one didn't have were names! I was super stoked to see them because it makes our life so much simpler haha.
Make sure to click on the pic to enlarge! Here's a closeup of the colors, love'm. The overall palette seems to be warmer and deeper in tone which is unique from my other palettes! There's a ton of more mattes in this one too. Off the bat I can tell which colors will end up being my ultimate favorites *cough* Peanut Butter *cough* haha. I love the golden tones the bigger shadows have, makes my brown eyes pop. Let's get into swatches:
This is the left side of the palette swatched exactly how the shadows are laid out. Off the bat Rum Raisin catches my eye! It's a beautiful taupe with plum tones... so different. Mousse is a great blending shade, buttery just like Too faced does best! Now... Pink Sugar is an interesting shade. It's pretty much pink shimmer flecks that you can use an eyeshadow topper. It doesn't swatch the best but it does look pretty over some darker shades for a hint of sparkle.
Here's the right side of the palette... my favorite! Nougat is the perfect transition shade, such a pretty matte beige-pink! Under that we have Blueberry Swirl which is truly amazing! I must say, it's not the most pigmented but for the pop of color I really enjoy it. You can definitely build it up. I just love that shade of blue and it pairs so well with the warm browns in this palette. To the right of that we have Peanut Butter which is literally my favorite from the entire palette! It looks bad ass in the crease! No other way to say it ;-)
Here's a comparison of both the palettes.Slightly obssessed huh? haha.
You can see that they're significantly different from each other. I love the metallic shades from the original Chocolate Bar Palette. I strongly feel that the stand out shades in the Semi Sweet Palette are the mattes! They are so smooth, so pigmented... everything you want a matte to be!
This is the look I wore for Christmas Eve :-) Just a simple gold lid but the colors looked amazing together!
Bottom line: If you love warm, sultry colors make sure to pick up the Semi Sweet Palette! I can't pick a favorite because I'm obsessed with both palettes but for different reasons. Too Faced is running the eyeshadow game, they're recent releases have been amazing and this one is no exception! The shadows are just awesome quality and c'mon... they smell like chocolate! The scent isn't really a selling point for me this time around but it's a plus haha. Hopefully you found the comparison helpful! :-)
Gorgeous look! What are you wearing on your lips??? I just got the original palette and then literally a week later this sucker came out! I'm not in a rush to get it...but I'm definitely getting it at some point haha
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I'm wearing the NYX soft matte lip cream in Monte Carlo :-) haha and yeah no rush, there's so many releases nowadays is so hard to choose!
